Sizes & Measurements

Accurate measurements makes for a comfortable, snug, custom fit.

Attention: All custom measurements if you foot and leg are to be taken in centimeters (cm). Please watch the video below as a guide on how to record your measurements.

When taking the measurements for the overall height of the leg, or 'shaft,' of the boot, bear in mind that the heel height should not be included. This is true of all boot styles - knee, over-the-knee, thigh and chap boots. This is why we ask you to take your measurements in bare feet or in stockings. The boots' leg length is always measured with the foot flat on the floor, up the leg to the desired height.

Please remember that at Tall Boot Lovers, we offer full custom made-to-measure boots, unlike many other so-called custom bootmakers who offer only standards foot sizes and widths in their boots. If you have a wide or narrow foot, we will tailor the foot bed to suit your individual measurements - a true bespoke service that will make these the best-fitting boots you will ever own.

When taking your measurements, the tape should be drawn snugly, but not tight.

Please let us know if you took the measurements on your bare leg, or if you are wearing socks and jeans or leggings while you were being measured.

Guide to Custom Measurements:

Measurement Guide

10, 10A, 11, 11A. These measurements are only required for Chap Boots.

9. Take this measurement around your thigh at the height you want the boot to be. Please note that we do not place any restrictions on the shaft height of our thigh boots - the sky's the limit, they can run as far up your leg as you like.

9A. Note the height up your leg at which you took measurement 9

8. For over-the-knee boots take this measurement around your leg, just above the knee, at the height you want your new boots to reach. Bear in mind that the maximum leg-length/shaft height for over-the-knee boots is 60 centimeters. Above this height and they will be considered thigh boots and charged accordingly.

8A. Note the height at which you took measurement 8

7. For knee boots take this measurement around the leg, just under the knee, at the desired height.

7A. Note the height at which you took measurement 7

6. Measure the circumference of your calf at its widest point. Tape should be snug, but not tight.

6A. Note the height at which you took measurement 6

5. Ankle measurement. Wrap the tape around your ankle at the ankle bone.

4. Place the tape at the base of the heel and around your instep as shown on the diagram.

3. Your instep measurement. Wrap the tape around your foot, passing it under the arch of your foot.

2. Wrap the tape around the ball of your foot - the widest point, just before the toes.

1. The overall length of your foot. This is best measured by tracing the outline of your foot on a sheet of paper, using a pen or pencil held vertically. For greatest accuracy the person whose foot is being measured should be standing, with their weight on their foot as it is being traced. The length of the foot is then measured from the tracing.

A picture is worth a thousand words, as they say, and so we have included a video showing measurements being taken for a pair of our custom boots. If you have any questions about how to take your measurements, please feel free to contact us.
